The submarket Frankfurt East is located on the northern side of the River Main to the east of the city centre. The submarket’s main thoroughfare Hanauer Landstrasse starts in the city centre and is the city’s third longest (6.8km) and most important Eastern outward road. It is dominated by commercial developments and large retail properties and lined with numerous car dealerships, clubs and restaurants. The new headquarters of the European Central Bank on the site of the city’s former wholesale market are expected to have an overall positive effect on the development of the submarket. A new bridge that is already under construction will connect the submarket East with the district of Sachsenhausen south of the River Main.
